Sticky Note 14: Oktavilla by Elding Oscarson

So my obsession with Sweden continues with this bright and open office by Elding Oscarson. Oktavilla is an interior office refurbishment for the design bureau of magazines and web in the centre of Stockholm. This office interior is a raw yet bright lofty space that has been transformed into a functional business interior with a few creative twists just to keep us on our toes!

The uninterrupted row of windows not only preserves the original form of the building but let's natural light spill over the open plan workstations and large meeting room. I am a big fan of naturally lit office spaces and this is a perfect example!

One of the meeting rooms has been divided by a large wall with magnetic galvanised steel cladding. The materials inherent beauty contrasts perfectly with the other natural and raw finishes that exist throughout the space. This wall defines the box that has been inserted into the floor plate. This geometric form houses the office kitchen and amenities. What I love about this element is that it has been so carefully placed that it does not interrupt the impression of a single large room.

What compelled me to this interior is the construction of the bundled magazines wall that divides the open plan workstations from the large boardroom. This not only relates directly to the offices' business purpose but also behaves as an acoustic barrier....creative, huh?!

On a side note, how hot are those chairs? I just love them!
